Sporcle I am ready for you!

Finally late this afternoon Jose (the hitchhiker I picked up) and I pulled slowly into Colby after fending off the blizzards for several hours. Black Orchid (aka my car) was huffing and puffing as we pulled into the hotel parking lot.

Just kidding mom, there was no hitchhiker and it was over 70 degrees. The drive was very uneventful and fairly boring. The landscape was the same, except for the interruption of sporadic snow that hadn't melted, cows and wind turbines.

The only little event was when I was looking for a gas station just outside of KC for a bottle of water. I took the next exit thinking there would be one in the town. There wasn't, but I did manage to find the "City" gun club. After doing a quick three point turn I was back on i-70 heading towards Denver.

I am spending the night in Colby, Kansas and am just about to venture out to find some food. I am staying in a nice little motel, although I don't really see the difference between this and a hotel. Chatted with the family who owns it for a little bit before checking in and hauling everything upstairs.

Looking forward to a good nights sleep. Drove about 330 miles today, so will have a little over 200 tomorrow before I get to Denver. I am now ready for the sporcle quiz - "Towns on i-70 between KC and Denver".

Kansas City Part Dos

I spent a few days in Kansas City. On Friday Jenny, Kay and I went to lunch at houston's and had very yummy fish. Kay is another thing from KC that I don't remember. There wasn't a whole lot I remembered. I did remember the Baskin Robbins we used to go to. And then I remember the busy street at the end of ours and the bad car wreck we saw when we bicycled there. There was also a little pond type thing that used to freeze over.

We reminisced alot the past few days about things we did with Jenny. Apparently I used to never wear clothes when we lived in South Lake. Must be a family trait, I remember John not wearing any very often either. Kay said she remembered him as the cute little cherub boy who escaped from his bath.

Last night (friday), one of Jenny's friends brought over Aresenic and Old Lace, which I had never seen before. It was funny and I enjoyed it. Five Stars!

Kansas City

Yesterday morning I left Davenport fairly early and made my way to Kansas City. I stopped in Des Moines for a quick lunch. I got to Jenny's house last night and we went to a mexican restaurant for dinner, Jose Peppers. Jenny was our nanny for several years in Texas, Kansas City and London. Has been so nice to see her.

Today we went on a tour and saw our old house and where I went to school for pre-K. I remember bits and pieces, but there is a lot I don't.

Sheboygan & Davenport

I spent most of the day in Sheboygan, WI. It's about an hour north of Milwaukee and the drive their was beautiful - very green and all the leaves were orangey/yellow. I got to Sheboygan and parked at a park. I took a walk up the hill and sat up there a few minutes. Then I went to get lunch at someplace called 'Julie's Family Cafe'. It was a little diner where everybody knew everybody. I drove back to the park and took a two hour nap in my car after not sleeping well last night. That's a picture of where I parked my car. Since my camera screen is scratched I kind of just have to point and aim, so hopefully future ones will come out better.

(View from my table at lunch)

I then went to Milwaukee and picked my suitcase up at the airport and was on my way. Drove to Davenport and got here around 9pm. Tomorrow I plan to drive to Kansas City after getting a good night's sleep (I hope!).

Milwaukee

Left FWB pretty early this morning. Just wanted to say thank you to everybody there, I had such a good time and was sad to leave. After an early start and a 6 hour lay over in dallas I finally got here this evening. My bag didn't though. So hopefully it will appear sometime soon. My charger is in it so my phone is now dead.

I walked around a bit then realised I was exhausted, so am back in the room watching some tv before bed. It's drizzling and cold and reminding me of London.

Thanks for the room dad!
